Nights 131 and 132

Hi and welcome back!

Yesterday I found out I had over 1,900 hits and viewers from 7 new countries on Sunday! Those countries were Vietnam, Philippines, New Zealand, Argentina, Netherlands, Japan, and the Czech Republic.

We saw from the comments that a website called the Muir Project put a link to this blog on their Facebook page.  Thanks to their link, I finally passed 10,000 total hits today!

The Pond this Evening
On Sunday night I had trouble sleeping, because of these two mockingbirds outside of my tent. They went on for a good 45 minutes.

On our hike yesterday my dad and I took 2 tupperware containers with us so that we could move the tadpoles from the puddle to the pond. This ended up being a lot harder than we thought it would be because most of the tadpoles would go to the other end of the puddle and we would end up with a container full of mud. But we were able to get some into a container that we brought home so we can watch them.

Actually, one of the commenters yesterday said they are probably toads. I'll let you know what they turn into.

Clover
Last night it was 27 degrees out, which is a lot colder than has been for the last month or so.  Since it was so cold out last night I woke up around 2:00 in the morning freezing, and I moved to the older 20 degree bag which has not been used for a while.

Today dad and I hiked up around the hill and down to the pond. We added water to the puddle where the tadpoles are living, since we haven't had rain for a few days.

I know I've told you all about Maisy, but we have another beagle, too. Her name is Clover and she will be 14 this fall. She doesn't hike much anymore, but she joined us today so we took a picture of her.

Thanks for reading!

  2. Hey LRC the guys at the Muir Project are great people. They have inspired me to travel to the US to hike in 2015. As for the toad tadpoles. Hope they are not like the Cane Toad we have here in Australia. They are introduced and poisonous and kill off native frogs. Im sure the ones you have will be good ones

    1. Thanks, Hunsta! We're still watching the tadpoles. No legs yet, but we'll let you know when that changes. I hope these aren't Cane Toads!

Where are you going to hike over here? Will you be in the east?
