There is a very easy way to tell the difference between blackberries and black raspberries: on the outside, they look almost alike, but if it is hollow in the middle - like a thimble - than it is a raspberry. Blackberries are just a little ball without that tiny central cavity.<br /><br />When I was a child, we had a lot of black raspberry bushes growing near our house, and my sister and I would go pick them all the time for snacking. When we (eventually) moved away from that area, I was quite surprised to discover that RED raspberries are much better known. All I had ever seen were the blacks!
